Leadership For Life – the 3rd year of this well-known conference

Numerous studies have shown that a deep sense of purpose and passion is the primary “force” behind both successful companies and their employee’s personal fulfillment. Forging this positive energy into a long-term positive result requires a continuous balance within the personal and professional lives of the people who lead and operate within these successful enterprises.

That is why this year’s Leadership For Life program brings together outstanding Czech and international leaders to address Balance: The Business-Life Connection. No matter how you look at it, your personal life and work life are connected. In order to do well in both life and business, both must be in balance.

This year on June 12 we present a unique program—the Czech Republic’s first Business Conference & Concert. Why a concert? Because we have been fortunate to attract an award-winning composer and an outstanding executive, who have worked together and demonstrated a strong synergy between certain music and creative discussions of important business concepts.   Gary Malkin is a popular international speaker and performer. He promotes the power of music for inspiration, creativity, and life/balance integration. Gary has received numerous Emmy, Clio, and ASCAP awards for his work in film, television, commercials, and CD production. 

Dr. David Surrenda, founder and CEO of the Leadership Edge is a former Dean of John F. Kennedy University and has consulted for executives in more than 200 multinational companies in high-technology, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, food and venture capital. 

David and Gary will give a business-concert presentation that will provide an effective backdrop for the talks by our Czech executives.  One of us, James A. Cusumano, Ph.D., will present a lecture based on his new book, Balance: The Business-Life Connection (Publisher: SelectBooks, Inc., New York). The English edition will be published in April of this year in America, and attendees of the conference will receive it as a gift. The Czech edition of the book is scheduled before the end of this year. The main principles of this book are based on more than 25 years of experience, where Jim and his colleagues worked tirelessly to reveal the principles that lead to success in our personal and professional lives. These two worlds are interconnected and their balance is essential for a successful and meaningful life. In his book BALANCE, Jim shares his experiences, which will help in the pursuit of personal and professional fulfillment.

In addition to other activities, Jim Cusumano established Catalytica, Inc., a U.S. public company consisting of two business areas; pharmaceutical production and systems for the creation of clean energy. As chairman and CEO of the company, working with his management team he built this company in Silicon Valley in less than five years; he began with three people and no sales and now has almost 2,000 employees and turnover of $500 million. Jim Cusumano and his partners Blue Events and the World Business Academy have created the Leadership for Life program.

David and Gary will be involved in the workshop for an exclusive group of 20 CEOs and company owners, which is traditionally held on the following day (June 13) at Chateau Mcely, less than an hour’s drive from the center of Prague in the direction of Mladá Boleslav. In the creative musical-discussion concept, the event’s protagonists will discover and foster a sense of passion and balance as a means to corporate success and satisfied self-fulfillment.
