PwC Business Academy is now a Gold Approved Learning Partner for the ACCA Qualification, only the second on the Czech market to have this certification

25.05.2009
Company: PricewaterhouseCoopers Česká republika, s.r.o.

PwC Business Academy, a training center operated by PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Czech Republic, has become Gold Approved Learning Partner to provide courses for the ACCA qualification.

ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is a global professional accountancy body which provides a first-choice qualification in finance, business managment and accounting. The approval is given to tuition providers who demonstrate that they meet the challenging performance targets set by ACCA.

PwC Business Academy is only the second institution on the Czech market to receive this high-level certificate.

“Until now, the choice on the Czech market for companies and invidividuals who wanted to achieve this key financial qualification has been relatively limited, compared to other countries. The interest from business is great inspite of current economic slowdown and it clearly demonstrates that launching ACCA courses is a step in the right direction,” said Joe Appleton, Leader of the PwC Business Academy.

This experience confirms the results of recent research undertaken by ACCA. It argues that the role of finance executives has been changing significantly – it is becoming more strategic and more technically demanding as well. The ability to conduct thorough financial analysis and manage financial risks are key, especially in today’s difficult economic environment.

„We believe that ACCA qualification provides financial executives with exactly the type of skills they need on today’s competitive market,“ said Kateřina Benešová, Head of ACCA Czech Republic. “According to our research, the demand for quality finance professionals will increase significantly in the future. We have now more 1,400 ACCA students and 702 ACCA members in the country and we believe that better choice of available study support on the market will increase the number of qualified professional accountants even more. ”

PwC Business Academy presents a unique concept of corporate learning and education on the Czech market. All trainings are provided by PwC experts who utilise their long-term practical experience from projects. The Academy uses the resources and knowledge of the PwC global network and provides students with one of the best global study materials.

“We have great experience with ACCA courses from training our own people,” concluded Joe Appleton. “The success rate of our ACCA students is between 70-80%, while the average Czech pass rate is around 50%.”

ACCA has also accredited the PwC Business Academy as an ACCA Continuing Professional Development Provider, which means that the Academy can provide courses for ACCA members that are an obligatory part of their continuing professional development (each ACCA member needs to obtain 40 ACCA approved learning units during one year to hold the qualification).
