On behalf of Steelcase Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of office furniture, we are pleased to inform you that its cutting-edge plant at Stribro, Czech Republic, is now officially open.
At a press conference and Grand Opening that took place on 20th January, 2015, senior management from the company’s head office in the US, including its CEO, Jim Keane, were joined by a number of local authorities and government representatives to cut the ribbon on the 26,000 m2 facility.
The plant in Stribro is a model plant and a critical part of the Steelcase EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and global manufacturing network, where the company aims to showcase best practices for its other plants. Already employing more than 150 people, all of whom attended a celebratory lunch in the plant’s incredible facility hall prior to the ribbon cutting, the company plans to hire up to another 100 employees by the end of this year.
In his speech prior to the ribbon cutting, Jim Keane explained that the local infrastructure, combined with the availability of reliable and skilled workers, were a big part of the company’s decision to invest approximately $25 million into its new plant.
In addition to Jim Keane, also taking part in the ribbon cutting were Steelcase’s Hamid Khorramian, Senior Vice President Global Operations, Ivo Gruner, the Deputy Governor for the Plzen Region, Frantisek Trhlik, the Mayor of Kostelec and Karel Lukes, the Mayor of Stribro, amongst others.
