On Sunday 29 March, a new flight schedule comes into effect at Vaclav Havel Airport Prague. In the upcoming season, which lasts until 24 October 2015, 60 carriers will offer their services under the regular schedule with their planes flying to 138 destinations around the globe. Six new carriers will fly to Václav Havel Airport Prague and Prague will be connected to a total of 29 new destinations.
“We have managed to attract new airlines to Prague and convince existing carriers to continue to fly routes introduced in the winter season and expand their connections from Prague. We can thus offer our passengers a record number of destinations in 45 countries,” said Václav Řehoř, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Czech Aeroholding about the new flight schedule. “Because of these new routes, as well as increased frequency on established connections, we expect a moderate year-on-year increase in the number of passengers of 2% even this year.”
The new destinations include flights operated by the Czech Airlines to Poznan and Gdańsk, Poland; Stuttgart, Germany; Bologna, Italy; Billund, Denmark; Bilbao, Spain; Porto, Portugal; Liverpool, Great Britain and Cork, Ireland. In the north, the destinations include Stavanger and Kristiansand in Norway, Linköpingu and Växjö, Sweden and also to Bordeaux, France which is also a destination for Volotoa.
Among the newly introduced routes there are also some originally charter destinations, such as Funchal in Madeira, Samos,Podgorica, Faro, Preveza and Varna, which were transferred under regular operation by the Czech SmartWings. SmartWings will also provide new routes to Tirana and Fuerteventura.
Air Cairo, a new carrier, will provide regular connections between Prague and Hurghada, another holiday destination. After several years, routes to Belfast, Ireland and Glasgow, Scotland will be re-established thanks to the connection provided by Jet2.com. Ryanair will also expand its operations at Vaclav Havel Airport Prague by introducing a new route to Bremen. Transaero Airlines will offer an alternative connection to Moscow, to the Vnukovo airport. Cherepovets is another destination in Russia offered in the flight schedule of a new carrier – Air Company Severstal.
AirBerlin also offers a direct route by re-introducing a connection between Prague and Berlin.
This season, most routes operated by the airlines will go to Italy (14 destinations), Great Britain (13 destinations) and Spain (12). These countries are followed by Russia and Greece, each of which has ten destinations connected to Prague by a regular direct route.
The favourite destinations with the highest number of connections provided from Vaclav Havel Airport Prague will include Moscow (Sheremetyevo), Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Warsaw.
