Hans von Aachen’s portrait on loan
The intimate portrait on copper of Kryštof Popel the Younger of Lobkowicz (1549–1609) made by his artist friend Hans von Aachen has been lent to the recently opened Hans von Aachen and Kryštof Popel of Lobkowicz exhibition at the Prague Castle Picture Gallery.
The exhibition marks the 400th anniversary of the death of Hans von Aachen, the renowned court painter of Emperor Rudolph II. It explores his close friendship, characterized by good wine and humour, with Kryštof Popel, the Grand Court Master of the Kingdom of Bohemia.
The exhibition runs until 22 July 2015.
