T-Mobile is the first mobile operator in the Czech Republic to establish cooperation with Transparency International Czech Republic (TI) and to become a corporate member of the Transparency International Club, which brings together corporations and individuals who regard corruption as a serious problem and actively fight against it.
“The activities of Transparency International contribute significantly to cutting corruption worldwide. We are happy to be able to support this organisation,” says Miroslav Uřičař, General Counsel at T-Mobile, adding: “A functioning compliance management system for prevention of corruption and internal fraud is in place at T-Mobile. Its consistent application helps strengthen our corporate culture and, at the same time, our position as a credible partner in the business environment.”
“The Transparency International Club will welcome a prominent corporate member and a strong player that will help effectively combat corruption in the Czech Republic. We are very happy that prevention of corruption and compliance are among the key priorities for T-Mobile and we are looking forward to working together within the TI Club,” says David Ondřáčka, TI Director.
Cooperation will continue in the form of exchange of information and experience in prevention of and the fight against corruption. T-Mobile will present to TI specific measures that it has applied internally in this area and will discuss with the organisation other possible ways to improve the system based on TI’s experience gained through its activities so far.
By teaming up with TI, T-Mobile is fulfilling one of the objectives of compliance within the Deutsche Telekom Group, aimed at reaching the highest possible degree of transparency, openness and moral integrity, particularly in accordance with anti-corruption rules. The risks associated with a breach of these rules are high and damage thus caused can be immeasurably costly.
