Tina Müller has received a prestigious award. Opel’s Chief Marketing Officer won the Brand Manager of the Year award at the Automotive Brand Contest 2015 hosted by the German Design Council. Numerous top-level representatives from the automotive, advertising and media industry were present for the award ceremony that took place in the Städel-Museum in Frankfurt yesterday.
“With the ‘Umparken im Kopf’ campaign, Tina Müller has succeeded in getting into people’s minds and helping turn the Opel brand towards a success path and even though she is not an automotive expert, she has done this in record-breaking time. Naming Tina Müller Brand Manager of the Year was almost an inevitable consequence,” said Andrej Kupetz, General Manager of the German Design Council. Since joining Opel in August 2013, the Chief Marketing Officer has helped turn around Opel’s brand image with wide-reaching campaigns such as “Umparking im Kopf”, “The new OH!” and most recently the “Astra Quantum leap”.
“I am very pleased to receive this award. It is also an award for my entire team. They have supported me in every way and have been extremely dedicated. This prize is a great recognition of our hard work. “Umparken im Kopf” helped successfully us tear down the virtual walls that previously stood between Opel and many customers. Our sales and marketing share are growing as a result. Now Opel can convince people with the company’s core values again: Outstanding German engineering combined with leading connectivity – as demonstrated by the introduction or Opel OnStar or the new Carsharing platform Carunity. The new Astra, which we are currently presenting at the Frankfurt Motor Show embodies this approach.”
Elsewhere, Opel’s main advertising agency Scholz & Friends was recognized for the perfect creation and implementation of the “Umparken im Kopf” campaign and named Agency of the Year. In addition, a further project conceived by Opel’s Marketing Department impressed the international jury of the Automotive Brand Contest. The calendar vernissage “CORSA KARL AND CHOUPETTE” created and organized by Gerhard Steidl along with the agencies Nowadays and Nicole Weber Communications in February was names Event of the Year.
