Standardization of production and work processes has been a synonym for productivity since 19th century. Employees sat in the typical offices and turned their computers (machines) on and off at the same time. However, this paradigm is now completely reversing. In the same way as customers demand personalised products, services and individual communication, employees expect a flexible working culture, ability to choose their own working style as well as a place where they want to work from.
The trend empowers companies to broaden their pool of talent as well as find customers from the whole world instead of being limited to a certain location. As cloud enables to easily cooperate and share, collaboration between diverse teams is becoming a norm in most industries. Companies are able to develop ecosystems of coworkers that are working from the office, from home or even from the other side of the world.
The main challenge is no longer a digitalization of processes within a company and with respect to the customer interactions. The next phase of the digital transformation is utilizing the unlimited capacity of cloud and real time application of modern analytic tools to understand internal and external data to manage business from anywhere. Only then, we can create a truly intelligent and intuitive digital business.
