Let’s Plant an Oracle Forest

14.04.2016
Company: Oracle Czech s.r.o.

On Wednesday 4th April about 30 Oracle volunteers with children helped to planted a forest in a glade near to the town of Kostelec nad Cernymi lesy in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, on the outskirts of Prague.

Volunteers planted around 1,500 saplings of typical Czech trees - pine (borovice). The spring mood, sun, fresh forest air and team spirit were all in their favour.

“Let’s Plant an Oracle Forest” started 7 years ago in 2010 as a local volunteering activity during Earth Week. Every Springtime since then the volunteers have returned to the vicinity of Kostelec nad Cernymi lesy whose name contains the concept of  “Black Forest" - dense woodlands set in beautiful countryside.

Oracle Czech Republic cooperates with the “Forest School,” which provides sufficient equipment for volunteer groups and advises on what is being planted, how to plant properly and other interesting forestry information.

The volunteers, between 40 and 60 people each year, often with sons and daughters, do not plant in the same trees each year. Forest School chooses a different glade every spring and this year it was the turn of pine. In 2014 they planted Douglas fir and in past years the team put in oak trees.

The number of small trees planted depends on factors such as weather condition and terrain – work on steep slopes is much harder than work on a sandy plain.

Since 2010 we have planted about 9,000 Oracle trees.
