Jones Lang LaSalle Turning Out Lights around the World for Earth Hour

25.03.2010
Company: Amcham

Jones Lang LaSalle's global office network spanning 45 countries will be uniting behind Earth Hour this weekend, turning off lights in a co-ordinated show of support for WWF's annual campaign to encourage commitment to action on climate change. At 8.30pm, local time, in 180 cities around the world, Jones Lang LaSalle and LaSalle Investment Management offices will join with many thousands of other public and private buildings in backing the Earth Hour message.

The firm has been involved with Earth Hour since its inception by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2007. This year, in addition to endorsing the campaign through its own offices, Jones Lang LaSalle is partnering with clients in towns and cities across the globe to help them show their support, while thousands of the firm's employees are preparing to join the campaign in their own homes.

Lauralee Martin, Jones Lang LaSalle's Chief Operating and Financial Officer, said: “Earth Hour sends a powerful message from like-minded individuals, communities and businesses across the globe.  We all want to play our part in conserving our planet's resources and environment for future generations.  This is an outstanding and vitally important initiative by WWF and Jones Lang LaSalle is proud to again provide such a strong show of support through the efforts of our people across the world.  We are particularly delighted to be partnering with so many of our clients on their own Earth Hour initiatives.  It is an approach that is entirely consistent with our strong advocacy for environmental issues and the pioneering work of our Energy & Sustainability Services teams, which are an integral part of our capability worldwide.”

WWF is encouraging organisations and individuals to sign up to show their own support and hopes that one billion people will choose to participate on Saturday.
