End of solar speculations?

7.04.2010
Company: Amcham

New rules on connection of solar power plants and other renewable resources to the grid have been valid since 1 April. The amendment to the Regulation of the Energy Regulatory Office is directed to displace the speculators who only resell reservations to real photovoltaic entrepreneurs.

From today on, the most important conditions for obtaining a positive standpoint for the connection of new photovoltaic power plants to the electric power system in the Czech Republic include submission of the time schedule of the project development and payment in advance for reservation of the capacity in the distribution grid. It is estimated that the speculators stand behind a substantial portion of the issued permissions; however, the exact figures are not available.

"If speculative blockages were to be forestalled, the measure should have been applied two years ago. Today, when connecting is suspended and redemption prices will probably decrease significantly starting from the new year, it is too late," says Michal Hrnčíř from Ambruz & Dark law firm.
