Clifford Chance recognised as the foremost International Law Firm in the Czech Republic

Chambers Europe Awards for Excellence 2010

Clifford Chance received the award for International Law Firm of the Year for the Czech Republic at this year’s prestigious Chambers Europe Awards ceremony held on Thursday, 20th May 2010 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Chambers singled out the firm's "widespread acclaim" and its ability to "attract a glittering array of clients".

"This recognises the exceptional strengths of our team in Prague – and the lengths to which we go to ensure our clients receive outstanding advice and service," said Vlad Petrus, Office Managing Partner, Prague.

Partners Alex Cook, head of the corporate practice, and David Koláček collected the award on behalf of Clifford Chance's Prague office.

Chambers are honouring outstanding firms on the basis of their research. These awards reflect a law firm’s pre-eminence in key practice areas and notable achievements over the previous 12 months, including outstanding work, impressive strategic growth and excellence in client service. The major transactions on which Clifford Chance's Prague office has recently advised include:

• International Power plc on the sale of its Czech assets to the investment firm J&T Group;
• Dalkia Česka republika, a.s., a major heat producer in the Czech Republic, on the acquisition of 100 % shares in NWR Energy, a.s. from New World Resources N.V., Central Europe's leading hard coal producer;
• Komerční banka, a.s. as lender on the financing of the acquisition of SKODA POWER a.s. by Doosan, a major Korean manufacturing conglomerate;
• Deka Immobilien Investment GmbH on the acquisition of a Czech and Polish warehouse portfolio; and
• European private equity fund EQT V on the acquisition of two leading Bulgarian cable telecommunications operators, Eurocom and CableTel.
