CMS is named Law Firm of the Year for Central & Eastern Europe

21.06.2010
Company: CMS

CMS Cameron McKenna LLP has been named CEE Firm of the Year at the 2010 PLC Which lawyer? Awards and CEE Law Firm of the Year at the unquote" CEE Private Equity Awards held earlier this month.

This is the second consecutive year the firm has clinched the PLC Which Lawyer? award and the third year in total. The firm beat off competition from other firms including Clifford Chance, White and Case, Salans and Kinstellar. It is also the second time that CMS Cameron McKenna has picked up the unquote” award, having won CEE Private Equity Law Firm of the Year in 2007.

PLC Which lawyer? is a highly regarded guide to the leading lawyers and law firms in more than 110 countries and provides independently researched market intelligence on lawyers active in core commercial practices. The well respected unquote” CEE awards are one of the only such awards to recognise outstanding performance in the CEE private equity market.

Sarka Robinson, Head of Private Equity at CMS comments, “The firm has been a pioneer in developing legal services within the CEE region for the last two decades. It is fantastic to see our cross-border coordination and in-depth local expertise being recognised yet again by these prestigious awards.”

CMS advised BC Partners, a worldwide active Private Equity-Firm, on its investment in leading lab service providers Synlab and Futurelab.  This was one of the largest cross-border corporate deals in the region in 2009 worth €300m and involved a international team at CMS of over 40 fee earners drawn from five of the CMS European offices.

The firm recently enhanced its Private Equity offering with the joining of a 7-strong private equity/corporate team. The team is led by Ted Cominos and includes partners Alexandra Florea and Graham Conlon, the team comprises key members of the “flying squad” that handled CEE / emerging market cross-border private equity backed M&A transactions in the region for Linklaters until 2007.

Currently, the firm has offices in Bratislava, Bucharest, Budapest, Kyiv, Moscow, Prague, Sofia and Warsaw.
