More than 50 employees from all of three PricewaterhouseCoopers Czech Republic (PwC) offices spent a work day at the beginning of summer joining PwC Green Day volunteering events. The events were organised simultaneously in locations near Brno, Ostrava and Prague.
Thirty volunteers from the Prague office spent the day cleaning up outskirts of primary school in Roztoky, Křivoklátsko. Their collegues from the Brno office spent their Green Day at the outskirts of Brno cleaning up ditches along the road between Velká Klajdová and Ochoz u Brna that are part of the protected land area (CHKO) Moravský kras. More than half of the Ostrava office set off to spend their volunteering day at the nearby Ostrava ZOO. The volunteers gave a hand with cleaning up the buildings. Some of them also took on other tasks that involved painting fences and small repairs.
„Volunteering is a significant part of PricewaterhouseCoopers‘ social responsibility program. Every employee is provided with an opportunity to spend one work day each financial year involved in hands-on, individual or team-based volunteering either in organisations and activities of his or her own selection or in a range of environmental and community projects organised by PwC," said Jiří Zouhar, Assurance Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers Audit, a leader of Environmental group.
At PwC, we understand Corporate Responsibility as the way we integrate social, environmental and economic concerns into our values, culture, decision making and operations in an accountable and transparent manner and thereby establish better practices within the firm, create wealth and improve society. Similar volunteering events as PwC Green Day had already been organised last year.
