Conditions for the business activities of foreigners should be made stricter

28.07.2010
Company: Amcham

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MPSV) headed by Jaromir Drabek has suggested changes aimed at decreasing the employment of foreigners from third countries (non-EU citizens)...

Besides recommending to the Labour Offices to extend the validity of granted working permits only in cases when the given position cannot be occupied by an EU citizen (or a citizen of Switzerland), the Ministry is planning to modify the legal conditions for granting trade licences to third country nationals. The policy of MPSV is supported by the Ministry of Interior that has already proposed its own law adjustments aimed to make the conditions for the business activities of third-country foreigners stricter. The Ministry of Interior proposal seeks to establish a requirement for all applicants for Czech entrepreneurial visas to hold an interview, in Czech, with Czech consular officers or to have at least 2 years of permanent residency in the Czech Republic.
