Chateau Mcely was recognized in the Green Hotel category by the prestigious 2008 World Travel Awards - The “Oscars” in Tourism - as The World's Leading Green Hotel!
Chateau Mcely was recognized by the prestigious 2008 World Travel Awards in the Green Hotel category as The World's Leading Green Hotel. Prior to this award, in a recent announcement by the European Union, Chateau Mcely was designated the first Five-Star “Green” and Eco Chic Hotel in the Czech Republic, and only the second one in the entire EU.
The World Travel Awards are considered the “Oscars” in Tourism. World Travel Awards have been presented in every segment of tourism each year since 1993. Since 2007, these awards have also been an integral part of the World Prizes for Ecological Services in Tourism – The World Green Awards. Announcement of the 2008 World Travel Awards took place at a gala event in Slovakia. Nominations were announced at the ITB Fair in Berlin in March.
Chateau Mcely was picked by travel agents and guests from around the world in competition with hotels from all of the major continents. The awards are based on opinions of thousands of clients and professionals from the tourist sector. The World Travel Awards are designed to support ecological and environmental sustainability in industry and tourism.
This award to Chateau Mcely demonstrates that 5-star luxury service need not be mutually exclusive of respect for the environment and energy efficiency. In fact, Chateau Mcely has found that though its investments in this area and by educating its staff to participate in and support this effort that being green can be financially profitable.
