EARTH HOUR 2011 - March 26 2011

21.03.2011
Company: Amcham

InterContinental Praha supports environment and participates in Earth Hour 2011!

On Saturday March 26th from 8:30pm to 9:30pm, more than 4200 cities around the world will turn off their lights with the purpose of sending a powerful global message to reduce global warming. In 2010, participation swelled to hundreds of millions as 4159 cities, towns and municipalities in 178 countries and many of the world’s best known landmarks participated.

At InterContinental Praha we care about climate change and understand our responsibility to respect the environment. We are committed to managing for a better future and invite you and our guests to switch off the lights and join us in the candlelit Zlata Praha Restaurant or Duke’s Bar to support this global energy saving initiative.

All non-essential lights in the hotel will be switched off during Earth Hour, except the lights in guest rooms, which will be at guests' discretion. It will in fact be a special hour where we place torches by the main entrance, candles by the swimming pool, in the lobby, in the Duke’s Bar and the Zlata Praha Restaurant. There will be no interruption to service during Earth Hour, and we hope you will try our Açai Mojito made from Açai fruit proofed as Fair Trade product supplied from Brazil, which will be available in Duke’s Bar on Saturday.

As one hotel we will make only a small difference in reducing our energy consumption. However, we understand that climate change is the most significant threat to life on Earth, and that one way to slow the current rate of global warming is for each individual and business to make small adjustments to the way we live. We are constantly monitoring and implementing plans that reduce our use of energy and water, and we re-use and recycle the resources consumed by our business wherever practical.
