Customs manager joins the PwC Tax and Legal Services team

PwC Czech Republic Tax and Legal Services team was strengthened by the addition of Radovan Šmídl, who will head up its growing customs practice. Radovan has 10 years of experience in the customs area with specialist knowledge of customs law, processes and regimes, both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Radovan joins PwC after 3 years as the Head of the Customs Department at the General Directorate of Customs.
In his new role Radovan as a PwC Tax and legal services Manager will specialise in providing advice on cost effective customs management and opportunities to reduce customs costs.
“Nowadays when all businesses are looking at ways to reduce costs it makes sense to look at customs and logistics processes to identify savings. My role will be to help clients to reduce their exposure to customs duties and to streamline their customs processes, thereby taking out cost. I am concerned that many importers view customs duties as an unavoidable cost of doing business and I am looking forward to helping them recognise that this is not necessarily the case”, said Radovan.
“Of course, there are costs associated with non-compliance with customs procedures and I will also assist clients avoid such problems by helping them to assess current levels of compliance and to make improvements“, added Radovan.
Radovan (36) graduated from the University of Economics in Prague and currently finishes his studies at the University of Finance and Public Administration in Prague. Radovan enjoys spending his free time with his family and playing sport.
