Jones Lang LaSalle named co-exclusive leasing agent for Nordica Ostrava

9.12.2008
Company: Amcham

The first Czech commercial building to receive the GreenBuilding certificate from the European Commission

Jones Lang LaSalle is pleased to announce that the company has been named co-exclusive leasing agent for the first GreenBuilding in the Czech Republic. JLL Office Agency will be leasing Nordica Ostrava on behalf of the developer Skanska Property Czech Republic. The office building, located in the city of Ostrava, can pride itself on being the first property to receive the GreenBuilding certificate from the European Commission.

Rikard Henriksson, CEO, Skanska Property Czech Republic, commented: “We have been focusing on energy efficiency of buildings and on energy efficient technological solutions in building maintenance and optimization of energy costs for many years. The first of our office building projects to win the GreenBuilding certificate was our office building in Sweden- Hagaporten 3 in 2007. We are very proud that it was our building Nordica Ostrava that has been awarded the first GreenBuilding certificate by the European Commission in the Czech Republic and I am convinced that its energy efficiency, reduced discharges of CO2 and environmental-friendliness will be appreciated especially by the tenants.”

Nordica Ostrava is located directly in the city centre, on the crossing of Českobratrská and Soukenická street. The building comprises of six floors with a total area of 12, 000 sqm. Nordica’s top floor includes an exclusive penthouse office with a large terrace. Greenery and a restful piazza surround the entrance of the building.

Harry Bannatyne, Consultant at Jones Lang LaSalle, added: “The average energy use of a standard commercial property in the Czech Republic is around 151 kWh / sqm / year. Skanska’s building Nordica reduces the average energy use by 30% to 86 kWh / sqm / year. Tenants will benefit from the energy efficient design features the building has to offer, as they result in the reduction in energy consumption costs. “

GreenBuilding

GreenBuilding is a voluntary program of the European Commission, which was launched in early 2005 with the goal of improving the use of potential energy savings in non-residential buildings.
