IFLR Awards names CMS “2012 Czech Law Firm of the Year”

The London-based International Financial Law Review (IFLR) has recognised the Prague office of CMS as “2012 Czech Law Firm of the Year”. The respected financial law publication announced the winners of its annual awards during a gala celebration at the Dorchester Hotel in London last night.
IFLR is a monthly magazine covering legal developments in banking, financial regulations, corporate law and capital markets. Its annual award recognises the leading law firms in these practice areas. Managing Partner of CMS in Prague Iveta Plachá commented: “We are proud to have been awarded Law Firm of the Year for the Czech Republic. The recognition is a great encouragement for us.”
2011 was a successful year for the firm’s corporate and banking practices. Among others CMS advised Mid Europa Partners on the acquisition and financing of shares in ENERGY 21 and Advent International on the acquisition and financing of TES Vsetin and MezServis (TES). The corporate team recently advised on MetLife’s acquisition of Aviva Czech Life from Aviva, while the Prague based CEE banking team advised UniCredit as the leader of a syndicate of 19 banks including Crédit Agricole, Erste Group, Raiffeisen Group and Société Générale on a EUR 470 million loan to Serbian state-owned telecom provider Telekom Srbija.
