CMS advises on the sale of Candy Plus

Law firm CMS has advised the owners of Candy Plus, the Czech manufacturer of confectionery brands such as Juicee Gummee, Fundy, Pedro and Cuksy, on the sale of the company to Raisio plc from Finland.
Candy Plus was founded in the Czech Republic in 2000 and focuses on the production of the faster growing product categories of soft-eating and higher-fruit jellies, liquorice and functional confectionery with its portfolio including strong local brands such as Juicee Gummee, Fundy, Pedro and Cuksy. The company’s two production sites are located in Rohatec and Petřvald u Karviné. The company employs more than 400 people. Raisio is a Finnish company established in 1939, whose shares are listed on NASDAQ OMX Helsinki Ltd. The company employs some 1,500 people and operates in 10 countries.
CMS partner Ian Parker, who led the team advising the sellers, commented: "This deal shows that international investors still have an appetite for acquiring local Czech companies, especially those with a strong consumer brand portfolio."
