CMS and the Czech Technical University’s Inovacentrum to organize a series of seminars on the Basics of Law for start-ups

6.02.2013
Company: CMS

The first seminar of the series will be held on 28 February 2013 and the topic will be dedicated to the basic principles of the Czech law which every businessman should be aware of. Seminars are scheduled to be held from February to June, every last Thursday of the month, at 6 p.m. in the premises of CMS in Prague. Participation is free of charge for start-ups.

“As one of the leading European law firms, we feel strongly about supporting the Czech business environment, including contributing to the development of small and mid-sized businesses,” comments Patrik Przyhoda, Head of Corporate and M&A practice at CMS in Prague. “We have, therefore, welcomed the offer of the Czech Technical University’s Inovacentrum to jointly organize a series of seminars for start-ups of InovaJET and other Czech business incubators" he adds.

All seminars of the series are free of charge for start-ups – speakers will include experienced advocates and the seminars will be held at Palladium, Na Poříčí 1079/3a, Prague 1, starting on 28 February 2013 at 6 p.m. The first seminar will be dedicated to the basic principles of the Czech law followed by a series of seminars on contracts, corporate law and securities, dispute resolution/ litigation, employment law, consumer protection and personal data protection. Businessmen who have just started their business will thus be provided with information that every entrepreneur should have a basic understanding of.

Jana Hodboďová, Head of InovaJET, the business incubator of the Czech Technical University’s Inovacentrum, feels positive about the joint cooperation: "I am very pleased to be able to launch our cooperation with CMS. The future of young businesses often depends on the set up of the company’s contractual relationships and so it is important to familiarise ourselves with legal aspects of these relationships in practice. The aim of our seminar series is to create an opportunity for gaining basic legal background which often is hardly available in the market for free.”

Capacity of the seminars is limited to 40 participants.
