World’s First Office Building Outside the UK to Receive BREEAM Outstanding Rating
CTP is proud to announce that The Tower at Spielberk Office Centre in Brno is the world’s first office building outside the UK to be awarded a BREEAM Outstanding certificate at the final, post-construction stage.
This marks the culmination of a three-year process, following construction launch in 2010, and makes Brno home to the one of the world’s most advanced office buildings, underscoring the city’s emerging status as a major centre for high-tech investment.
The final BREEAM assessment for Spielberk Tower was administered by licensed assessor EC Harris and involved a detailed analysis and quality ratings in ten diverse categories: Management, Health & Well Being, Energy, Transport, Water, Materials, Waste, Land Use & Ecology, Pollution and Innovation. The Tower’s high scores across all categories make it the first office building anywhere in the world outside the UK to achieve the BREEAM Outstanding rating.

This comprehensive assessment of the full lifecycle of the building is meant to gauge the development’s overall quality and thus, in addition to energy efficiency and ecological use of natural resources, factors in such things as effective use of natural sunlight in the office environment, connectivity and easy access to public transportation, landscaping and onsite amenities, and the ability to recycle construction materials at the end of use of the building.
