PRAGUE – The popularity of comfortable travel coupled with visits to exclusive airport lounges before departure has recently been on a constant increase amongst Czechs. Citibank’s Citigold Lounge in the departure hall of Terminal 2 of the Václav Havel Airport in Prague registered a record 14,427 visits of the Citigold program clients last year. Compared with 2012, the visitor rate grew by more than 33%. It is the very first airport lounge of this type to be opened at Prague airport in 2010; since then, more than 32,000 Citigold program clients have spent time there waiting for their departure in a comfortable environment. The lounge is accessible for a fee for other passengers who are not Citibank clients, and the total number of visits to the Citigold Lounge is therefore even larger.
“Access to the Citigold Lounge has long been one of the most popular non-banking benefits that Citibank offers its clients. Our clients mainly appreciate the privacy that Citigold Lounge offers them on their travels abroad,” says Veronika Špaňárová, Retail Bank Head at Citibank, adding: “In addition, some other aspects are important for them, such as free parking at the airport for Citigold customers and individual security checks through which they pass completely separately from other passengers at the airport.”
The services provided by the Citigold Lounge, which is accessible for all Citigold program clients and accompanying persons free of charge, also include cabin luggage check-in directly in the lounge, all-inclusive refreshments, and TV, Wi-Fi and daily newspapers. Individual security checks, through which they pass completely separately from the other passengers at the airport, thereby avoiding what frequently are very personal checks that may be quite embarrassing in public, are also a very comfortable feature of the lounge.
“Last year, the Citigold Lounge registered the highest visitor rate in September and October, which can be explained by, among other factors, a broader range of cheaper air trips offered in late summer and also an increase in business trips in early fall,” adds Veronika Špaňárová.
