Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Falcon Group, a consortium of investors 75% controlled by funds managed or advised by Mid Europa Partners, the leading buyout investor which focuses on Central & Eastern Europe and Turkey, on the conclusion of a binding agreement for the €828 million sale of its entire stake in T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s. to Deutsche Telekom AG. The deal is expected to close by the end of February.
Budapest-based White & Case partner Rob Irving, co-head of the Firm's EMEA private equity practice, said: "We are very pleased to advise Mid Europa and Falcon Group generally on this successful exit. This is the culmination of more than three years of work for Falcon Group, including the €574 million sale of Ceske Radiokomunikace to Macquarie Group in 2011 and €365 million leveraged recapitalisation of Falcon Group in 2012."
Since Mid Europa's original acquisition during 2006 of the stake in T-Mobile Czech Republic, the company has become the country's market leader in mobile communication services, growing to more than 5.8 million subscribers and successfully diversifying into fixed line and business-to-business services.
The White & Case team which advised Mid Europa Partners was co-led by partners Rob Irving and Edward Keller (Budapest) and included partners Michal Smrek, Damian Beaven, Ludek Chvosta (all Prague), Jason Yardley and Rob Bennett (both London) as well as local partner Alena Naatz (Prague) and associates Rebecca Zaman and Richard Blackburn (both London).
