Deloitte: David Marek will join the Deloitte advisory team in August

2.07.2014
Company: Deloitte

David Marek (38) will become a new director in Deloitte’s financial advisory services function from 1 August 2014. He will be engaged in client services in areas using economic analyses, eg valuation, advising on mergers and acquisitions or restructuring. At the same time, he will take the role of the chief economist of Deloitte after the departure of Ludek Niedermayer.

I hope that my experience will help to contribute to the work of Deloitte’s advisory team and the services provided to its clients. At the same time, I am looking forward to the new experience and impulses that will enrich my analytical work. The economic analyses do not only deal with numbers but in particular with people and companies. I am honoured to continue the work of Ludek Niedermayer, whom I highly respect,” says David Marek about his new position.

David Marek comes to Deloitte from Patria Finance, where he worked for the last 14 years as the chief economist and the head of the analytics department. He studied at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague, where he earned his PhD. He also took a study stay at the University of Limerick in Ireland.

In 1997 and 1998 he acted as an economic specialist in the Economic Institute of the Czech National Bank. Afterwards, he transferred to the monetary policy section of the Czech National Bank. In 1999 - 2000 he worked in the financial market analysis department of Česká spořitelna. He is a member of the Czech Economic Society and cooperates with the Czech Banking Association.
