Pedigree® - Walk with dogs.

30.07.2014
Company: Amcham

Let’s take a walk. Let’s have some fun. Let’s make our dogs happy. 544 dog owners and 329 dogs walked for a good cause! The Prague International Marathon took place during the second weekend in May and the Pedigree® Dog Walk was part of it. A total of 544 people and 329 dogs took part in this second annual 4.5 km non-competitive walk through Stromovka park. Numerous dog lovers with their four-legged friends came together in front of Prague’s Výstaviště exhibition grounds before 4:00 p.m. Both children and adults had the opportunity to receive interesting presents in the form of Pedigree® dog food and Care&Treats while helping abandoned dogs in shelters via their registration for walk.

We help abandoned dogs
By participating on Pedigree walk with dogs, people benefited not only their own physical condition, but also their pets’ health. In addition, Mars Czech contributed 1 kg of Pedigree® dog food for every registered participant, dog and human. Selected animal shelters can thus look forward to receiving a total of 873 kilograms of Pedigree® food for the dogs in their care. Last year’s walk also had an outstanding result, when dogs in two shelters (in Buštěhrad and Český Krumlov) enjoyed a total of 830 kilograms of Pedigree® food. This is only a small part of the extensive assistance that Mars Czech provides for animals.

A famous face leads by example
The face of the Pedigree® Dog Walk was actor and moderator Tomáš Krejčíř with his German mastiff, Hugo. His relationship with Hugo is exemplary: “I make sure Hugo gets a lot of exercise. When it’s not cold, he runs around in the yard. I take him for an hour-long walk every day, or I ride beside him on my bicycle or scooter. I brush his teeth at least once a week and also give him dental treats.” Tomáš Krejčíř particularly likes the charitable aspect and friendly atmosphere of the Pedigree® Dog Walk. “Animal shelters are beneficial, and most of them cannot get by without assistance from sponsors, donors and volunteers. We once lost a hunting dog and we eventually found him in a shelter, where they had taken very good care of him. Therefore, I think that the continued operation of shelters is in the interest of every owner. I help two shelters by moderating their happenings and I also sometimes support them financially,” Krejčíř adds.

An accompanying programme and great entertainment were also connected with the Pedigree® Dog Walk. Demonstrations of canine sports and training of guide and rescue dogs took place throughout Saturday in front of the entrance of Výstaviště in Holešovice. An unmissable part of the event was the Pedigree® stand, where participants registered and samples of Pedigree® dog food and treats were given out. Together with their start numbers, participants in the walk received tote bags, yellow t-shirts and samples of Pedigree® dog food and treats. As a reward for their participation, every canine and human participant received a commemorative medal at the finish line. Refreshments were also available along the entire course and for all dogs at the end of the walk!
