Anti - Zeman, anti - Babiš, anti - Trump

The Czech media and Czech political establishment predominantly favored Hillary Clinton in yesterday's U.S. presidential elections, just as their American counterparts did. A clear note of disappointment could be heard overtaking some of the Czech commentators this morning between 3am and 4am as the tables started to turn in Donald Trump's favor.

Czech politicians haven't spoken yet today, but House Speaker Jan Hamáček of ČSSD said in LN yesterday that he is very worried by Trump's comments about Nato. He told TV Nova several weeks ago that Trump represents a threat to the world. The big question now is whether staunch Hillary supporters like Hamáček will accept the outcome of the U.S. democratic process and recognize Trump as their Alliance partner, or whether they will continue to see Trump as a threat. It will be very tempting for them to meld their anti -Trump message into the Czech parliamentary and presidential election campaigns.
