13.05.2021
Company: Amcham

Global law firm Dentons has appointed Petr Zákoucký as Czech Republic Managing Partner with immediate effect, following his unanimous election by partners in the Prague office.

Petr Zákoucký commented on his appointment. “I am excited to take the helm and help Dentons solidify its position as a top law firm on the Czech market. Our priority will be to maintain and build quality client relationships in our established practice areas, while also investing in expanding our capabilities in capital markets, litigation and technology, media and telecommunications. Given  Dentons’ unmatched global coverage, we are well prepared to help our booming Prague-based clientele with their global expansion, as well as international companies with their cross-border transactions and operations.”

In addition to his role as Managing Partner, Petr Zákoucký will continue to lead the Energy and Corporate and M&A practices in Prague. A partner at Dentons since 2017, he has 15 years’ experience advising on M&A transactions, competition, regulatory and litigation matters, primarily in the energy, oil and gas, mining and infrastructure sectors.

He is widely recognized as one of the Czech Republic’s top lawyers.  He is ranked in Band 1 for Projects and Energy and in Band 2 for Competition and Antitrust in Chambers Europe and Chambers Global;  as a “Leading Individual” in both Projects and Energy and EU and Competition in The Legal 500; and as “Highly Regarded” in M&A, Project Development, Energy, Mining, and Oil and Gas in IFLR1000.

Zákoucký takes over the Managing Partner role from Michal Hink, who has decided to leave Dentons in order to accept a senior role within the investment team of real estate company Heimstaden.

“Our Prague office, which is among the leading international law firms in the Czech market, is a source of pride to us at Dentons. I am confident that under Petr’s very capable leadership, the office will continue to grow and thrive,” said Tomasz Dabrowski, CEO of Dentons Europe. “I would also like to thank Michal Hink for his immense contribution to our Firm and our clients over the last 17 years. We wish him all the best, and hope to continue working with him as a valued client.”

Dentons has been present in the Czech Republic through its legacy firms since 1991 and was ranked by independent legal directory Chambers Europe as one of the top law firms in the country. Dentons was also named “International Law Firm of the Year” in the Czech Republic in both 2019 and 2020 in the EPRAVO.CZ Legal Awards. The Prague office employs 55 lawyers, including 15 partners.
