Intelligent power management company Eaton continues to expand its leadership in cybersecurity with dual International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and UL Solutions cybersecurity certification for its uninterruptible power supply (UPS) network cards. The Eaton Gigabit Industrial Gateway X2 Card is the latest Eaton UPS network card to meet both IEC 62443-4-2 and UL 2900-1 cybersecurity standards.
“In today’s increasingly connected world, cybersecurity is an essential capability to protect your business and its assets,” said Max Wandera, director of Eaton’s Cybersecurity Center of Excellence. “Our enterprise-wide proactive and consistent cybersecurity approach has yielded the industry’s first network cards to meet IEC and UL requirements for advanced network protection, prioritizing secure data flow for both hardware and firmware at the starting point of critical network communications.”
The solution is designed to help improve power system reliability by providing warnings of pending issues to administrators and helping perform orderly shutdown of servers and storage. Eaton’s Gigabit Network Card and Industrial Gateway Card were the first products of their kind to meet both of the rigorous product certifications, underscoring the company’s capability to meet stringent specifications and customer expectations for secure power.
“By bringing connectivity to the ubiquitous UPS systems across critical power environments, we’re helping customers remotely access data to manage power system health,” continued Wandera. “And with third-party conformance assessment, customers can have greater peace of mind that the solutions will operate securely.”
Additionally, Eaton is expanding its Cybersecurity Perspectives virtual global forum and educational program with new sessions addressing how to secure critical infrastructure amid digital transformation. The program includes expert-led panel discussions focusing on the role of cybersecurity in the energy transition; how to secure IoT solutions; navigating the ever-changing cybersecurity regulatory landscape; and the importance of codes and standards in product and cybersecurity lifecycle management.
