Eversheds Sutherland appoints new managing partner and strengthens the firm's leadership

Prague, 26 October 2021 – The international law firm Eversheds Sutherland has appointed a new managing partner for the Czech and Slovak Republics and is significantly strengthening its management team. Bernhard Hager, who currently leads the Bratislava office, will become the firm's new managing partner. The current managing partner in the Czech Republic, Stanislav Dvořák, will continue to act as a senior partner of the Prague office. At the same time, principal associate and head of the labour law team, Radek Matouš, was promoted to partner. The office further expanded its management team with four new counsels: Petra Konečná, Petra Kratochvílová, Marek Bomba and Michal Hrabovský.

"My biggest task in the new role will be to further strengthen the integration of the Czech and Slovak teams and especially to deepen cooperation within the countries of Central and Eastern Europe," said Bernhard Hager, the new managing partner of Eversheds Sutherland for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. "In terms of potential growth, this is a promising region, the development of which is one of Eversheds Sutherland's top priorities."

Bernhard Hager is an attorney-at-law authorized to practice in Austria, Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. In his practice Bernhard concentrates on advising industrial sector clients on corporate, energy and infrastructure projects and construction law.

Bernhard graduated from the Faculty of Law at Vienna University and, subsequently, prior to entering attorney practice in 2000, lectured at Kaunas University, Lithuania. Furthermore, Bernhard obtained a postgraduate degree in competition and financial law at the Queen Mary University of London (LL.M.) in 2002. Apart from German, he speaks English, Slovak and Czech.

Radek Matouš is an attorney-at-law specialising in all fields of individual and collective labour law. He is also a founding member of the Czech Employment Lawyers Association, which brings together prominent Czech lawyers who have been practising labour law for many years. He also has extensive experience in the fields of personal data protection, corporate law and competition law.

Radek Matouš, who previously headed the labour law practice group at Balcar Polanský Eversheds in Prague, joined the team of our law office in 2015. Radek graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague and also studied international trade at the University of Economics in Prague. He is a member of the Czech Bar and in addition to his native Czech is fluent in English and German.
