Global law firm White & Case LLP has promoted 26 lawyers to counsel and 15 to local partner, including three lawyers from the Prague office.
In addition to internal promotions, White & Case has hired eight counsel and seven local partners during 2016.
At White & Case, counsel is a role for senior lawyers with significant experience in a particular practice area. The title is used across the Firm, in all offices, as an alternative career path to partnership but does not preclude consideration for promotion to partner.
The position of local partner is offered in select White & Case regions and locations where it is common market practice. At present this includes offices in Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Belgium, Germany, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The title of local partner is a recognized career step towards admission into Firm partnership.
Two lawyers of the Prague office of White & Case have been named counsel and one a local partner, effective as of January 1, 2017:
"I take this opportunity to congratulate my wonderful colleagues on their success; it is great to see that we have some of the best lawyers and tax advisors in the market for these key areas of practice which we and our clients consider of great importance," says David Plch, managing partner of the Prague office.
Earlier in October 2016, White & Case promoted 40 lawyers around the world to its partnership. These promotions are also effective January 1, 2017 and represent 11 of the Firm's global practices in 17 locations.
In the Prague office of White & Case Jan Linda has been named partner in the Firm's Global Banking Practice. He provides legal services to banks and other financial institutions on cross-border, syndicated and bilateral financings, particularly in the areas of project, export, real estate and acquisition financing. Jan Linda strengthens the Prague team of seven Partners as the youngest team member in this position.
"Honza is an excellent lawyer in the area of financing for export projects, real estate, and acquisitions. His promotion reflects the satisfaction of our clients, the high quality of his work, and also our strategy to provide world-class legal services through lawyers on the ground, right here in the Prague office," says David Plch, managing partner of the Prague office.
"During my ten years with White & Case, I've had the pleasure and privilege to work on the most interesting financing transactions for our clients from the Czech Republic and from the CEE region at large, and I expect that my new role will unlock even more opportunities for me to further build upon our successful practice, among others also for clients from German-speaking countries," adds Jan Linda.
