New Year's Eve in the T-Mobile network confirmed the trends of recent years. While the volume of transferred data is growing, the number of calls remains stable, but the number of SMS continues to decline. Customers made 22,111,933 calls in the T-Mobile network, sent 11,512,994 SMS and 311,080 MMS. Compared to New Year's Eve 2019, data traffic increased by 47% to almost 1,756 TB and was strongest between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. We traditionally called and sent SMS the most in the first quarter of the new year.
The number of calls remained almost unchanged compared to the previous year (-0.93%) and remained above 22 million. However, in the first 15 minutes of 2021, voice traffic grew by almost a quarter and reached almost 1.5 million calls.
The volume of New Year's Eve and New Year's SMS, as in the previous year, decreased year-on-year, by more than two million from a total of 13.7 to 11.5 million. We most often wished for the new year in the first quarter of an hour after midnight, when over one million SMS messages passed through the T-Mobile network. The number of MMS decreased by less than 5% from 327,000 to 311,000. Multimedia messages were mostly whizzed by air from 00:15 to 00:30.
Even the last day of last year confirmed the trend of ever-growing popularity of mobile internet. The total volume of transferred data increased by 47% year-on-year to 1,756 TB. The traffic exceeded the numbers from 2019 all day, the busiest hour was between 21:15 and 22:15. In 2019, on the contrary, it was after five o'clock in the afternoon.
