This year’s winners include: Ambev, Avaya, BAMF, Calix, Cima Global, Cisco Capital, City of Hope, ClubCorp, Cummins, Inc., DX Marketing, Dubai Airports, Elbooq, ENEL, HCPA, Helsana Gruppe, IDEA Cellular, IDEXX Laboratories, La Caixa, Manchester Airport Group, Nacional Monte de Piedad, National Pharmacies, The Procter and Gamble Company, Rakuten, Renault, Safexpress, State Bank of India, SuiteBox, Tippett Studio and YellowDog.

“These awards recognize customers that are using Oracle’s PaaS and IaaS together in unique and innovative ways to transform their businesses. Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen our customers make a wholesale move in using the Cloud for just simple dev/test scenarios to running serious, enterprise workloads in the Cloud,” said Amit Zavery, senior vice president of Cloud Platform and Integration products, Oracle. “We’d like to congratulate all customers on their well-deserved awards.”

Part of the Oracle Excellence Awards, the Cloud Platform Innovation Awards is an annual awards program recognizing customers for their cutting-edge solutions using Oracle’s PaaS and IaaS services. Recipients of Oracle’s Platform Innovation Awards were selected based on the uniqueness of their business case, business benefits, level of impact relative to the size of the organization, complexity and magnitude of implementation and the originality of architecture.

Oracle Cloud Platform and Infrastructure enables organizations to move their enterprise workloads to the Cloud while providing their customers with a portfolio of highly innovative and accessible cloud-based services to capitalize on key transformative technologies such as big data analytics, machine learning and IoT.

A few of the 2016 winners are:

HCPA Chose Oracle Cloud at Customer for Running Business-Critical Healthcare Workload

Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA) is a leading hospital in Brazil with 850 beds. It is well known for transplants and genetic research in Latin America and conducts over 600,000 consultations a year. Oracle Cloud at Customer allowed HCPA to run applications that handle healthcare data on their premises and enabling low latency connections to other on-premises applications.

“By moving to Oracle’s Cloud at Customer infrastructure with subscription based pricing, HCPA was able to immediately cut back $2.5MM in CapEx expense, and foresee additional savings as more workloads are moved to Cloud at Customer,” said Valter Silva, CIO, HCPA. “Oracle Cloud at Customer is fully managed by Oracle. As a result, HCPA has also significantly reduced our IT operating and staffing costs.”

IDEA Cellular Chose Oracle PaaS to Help Prevent Outages in its Most Mission-Critical Applications

IDEA Cellular, one of India’s leading wireless telecommunication providers, is using Oracle Management Cloud to help prevent potential outages and also to increase performance and efficiency of its mission-critical applications. Using Oracle Management Cloud, IDEA Cellular is able to monitor its Oracle and third-party applications to rapidly identify the root cause of problems before they become potential problems.

“IDEA Cellular has over 175 million wireless subscribers, and our mission-critical systems cannot afford downtime,” said Prakash Paranjape, CIO, IDEA Cellular. “Oracle Management Cloud’s machine learning techniques enable us to proactively identify potential operational trouble-spots even in our most complex applications, helping to prevent failures.”

Tippett Studio Chose Oracle IaaS to Store Special Effects Used in Biggest Blockbuster Movies

Tippett Studio, the animation and visual effects company behind incredible special effects in films like Jurassic Park, RoboCop, Starship Troopers, Twilight, Jurassic World and Star Wars: The Force Awakens plans to move petabytes of archived digital content to the Oracle Storage Cloud Services to provide a global content repository for easy accessibility and sharing and to streamline its operations at cloud-scale economics.

“With Oracle Storage Cloud Services, we can access content from anywhere in the world much faster than with legacy IT gear and benefit from unrivaled economic value,” said Sanjay Das, COO, Tippett Studio. “We selected Oracle because it provided the most compelling business value for our growing animation and visual effects business while other public cloud services were priced up to 10 times more.”
