Employees of the technology company 3M in Prague are involved in the “3M in Motion” regional challenge, which supports two good causes at once. The primary goal is to give employees some exercise and keep them in good shape. In addition, the more they exercise, the more money is provided to families in difficult life situations through the Dobrý Anděl (Good Angel) foundation. Their colleagues in Slovakia and Hungary have also joined the project.
The employees of 3M Czech Republic help the Dobrý Anděl foundation with enthusiasm. They run. One of their favourite group jogging routes takes them from the business park in Prague’s Chodov through the nearby Kunratice Forest. Every kilometre they run is converted to money and 3M will then double the resultant amount. The funds are used for a good cause – 3M has been a long-time supporter of the Dobrý Anděl (Good Angel) foundation in the Czech Republic.
“I was nicely surprised by the enthusiasm with which our employees accepted the challenge and became actively involved in running for a good cause. They keep adding the kilometres logged and I am curious to see the figure they will end up with at the end of the year,” says Olga Čadová, 3M’s Human Resources Manager for the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Similar projects are currently in progress in Slovakia and Hungary. In Slovakia, 3M’s employees also log the kilometres they run to help the Dobrý Anjel (Good Angel) foundation whereas in Hungary they practice yoga and provide the funds raised to United Way.
“We were able choose from many sports and activities. Eventually we chose running because when you run you are heading towards a goal. Our goal is to help,” says 3M’s Jan Fousek metaphorically. He runs so he can feel good about two things.
