Deutsche Telekom is enabling the use of high-speed internet service in cars manufactured by BMW, with which it is cooperating on the project. The HotSpot Drive service is now available in 15 European countries and is provided in the Czech Republic by T-Mobile Czech Republic.
The service works as a Wi-Fi hotspot built into the user’s car. When customers register free of charge and purchase one of the plans on offer, they can use the internet in their car in the same way they do at home or in the office. Wi-Fi is accessible to all devices regardless of the SIM card and mobile service provider. Internet access available within the basic Start plan can also be used abroad in the EU, Norway and Switzerland without any additional cost.

T-Mobile is a provider of this service for all BMW cars purchased and registered in the Czech Republic since 1 July 2017 and equipped with optional special navigation which also includes a Wi-Fi hotspot. Customers can purchase additional bundles on top of the basic plan – for example, World Pass, which allows use of the service outside of the EU, Norway and Switzerland. The plan does not require a commitment and the contract can be terminated online at any time. All newly registered customers who activate the HotSpot Drive service will be provided the Start S plan by T-Mobile free of charge for the first month.
The operator is also working on a new variant of its Chytré auto ("Smart Car") service, which will enable creation of a Wi-Fi network regardless of the car brand and will thus be available to a much larger group of customers. T-Mobile will introduce the new version of Smart Car by the end of November 2017.
