T-Mobile says goodbye to Czech football representation after 22 years

13.03.2020
Company: T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s.

  • Paegas / T-Mobile has been a general partner since 1998
  • Over 230 matches, 11 qualifying cycles
  • Seven participations in a row at European Chamionship, one participation in the World Championship
  • 30,000 tickets distributed to customers

After this year's European Championship, T-Mobile will end its partnership with the Czech national football team. The largest domestic mobile operator has been the general partner of the best Czech footballers for over 22 years. T-Mobile will prepare for its customers and fans a number of activities for this year's Euro.

“We have stood with the Czech national team for more than two decades, whether or not we did well. The seventh row in Euro will symbolically close our cooperation,” says Juraj Bóna, Chief Commercial Officer of T-Mobile Czech Republic, adding: “We have Czech football deep in our hearts, the emotions it brings and how it can connect and excite football fans from Aš to Jablunkov. At the same time, we feel it is time to move on.”

T-Mobile joined the national football team in 1998, at that time under the brand Paegas. Perhaps there is no football fan who does not have a national team jersey with the operator's logo in the Czech Republic. For example, T-Mobile prepared 100,000 of them for 2006 World Cup in Germany.

“It was a long and mutually beneficial partnership for which we need to thank. We learned about the possibility to quit just a few months ago, and so we were not surprised by the final decision,” said Martin Malík, President of the FAČR.

Over the past two decades, T-Mobile has organized a wide range of activities for fans, whether they were large screen projections, 1 + 1 free tickets, presale tickets, collectors' collections of football team cards, special football news on mobile, mobile applications, special website fotbalvsrdci.cz… Tickets competitions were of course the most popular – in total, more than 30,000 customers of the operator attended national matches with T-Mobile.

“The EURO is coming and I can promise fans that we will do everything we can to really enjoy the European Championship together,” concludes Bóna.
