Vodafone drastically cuts the price of its roaming in zone 2

As of July 27, 2017, Vodafone will drastically cut the price of its World Roaming tariff for zone 2. The price is dropping from the original CZK 252.02 to CZK 7.70 per 1 MB of data. The price of incoming and outgoing calls as well as outgoing SMS and MMS remain unchanged. This gives customer another option in addition to the “Roaming na den” and “Wi-Fi volání v zahraničí” services to stay connected at affordable prices abroad even in countries outside of the regulated European Economic Area (EEA).

"There have been so many positive changes in the roaming world in the past couple of weeks. We decided to dramatically change the Czech market in this area. We decided to drastically reduce the price of data for customers travelling in the 58 countries of zone 2 that are not subject to the recent roaming regulation. Together with our “Roaming na den” and “Wi-Fi volání v zahraničí”, the new offer is a unique opportunity for our customers to use our services at reasonable prices even abroad, says Vodafone CEO Jiří Báča, adding: “I am confident that this and other measures to follow in the near future will set a completely new course for roaming services and more that will most certainly benefit our customers.”

Petr Dvořák, Vodafone’s vice president for non-corporate clients, says: “In the second half of this year, we will several countries from zone 3 to the cheaper zone 2. Zone 3 will remain dedicated to countries with really seriously extreme wholesale conditions. We would like to see as many countries as possible in zone 2. We hope our customers will welcome the changes as they are designed to make their global travel easier and more comfortable.”

“Roaming na den” tariff for the “world” zone – unchanged

• Daily fee CZK 199.00
• Calls and SMS: Same prices as with the basic tariff for a period of 24 hours after activation (e.g. a customer with an unlimited tariff will be able to make unlimited calls and SMS)
• Data:100 MB of data for a period of 24 hours after activation (1 MB = CZK 1. 99)

The lower price of data under the World Roaming tariff applies both to tariff customers and users of prepaid cards.
Vodafone also remains the only Czech operator to enable its customers to use Wi-Fi calls anywhere in the world. Wherever they are, Vodafone customers who connect to a Wi-Fi network can make calls under the same conditions they enjoy in the Czech Republic. The service is available for telephones with iOS or Android version 4.0. There is a free application Vodafone Wi-Fi volání available for Android devices. Telephones with other systems do not require a special application as the service is included in the basic settings.

Furthermore, Vodafone is offering a new function Roamingový datový limit, which helps customers keep their bills in check. They can set a limit from CZK 0 to CZK 9,900, which includes any expenditure above their regular (monthly or daily) fee for roaming data services. Once the limit set by the customer is reached, Vodafone will block any further paid roaming data traffic. Customers can also set the limit through the Můj Vodafone application.

Countries currently included in zone 2 are: Albania, American Virgin Islands, Andorra, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belarus, Bermudas, Bonaire, Bosnia and Herzegovina, British Virgin Islands, Montenegro, China, Curacao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Faroe Islands, Grenada, Greenland, Guam, Haiti, Indie, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, South Africa, Caiman Islands, Canada, South Korea, Kosovo, Macedonia, Morocco, Mexico, Moldavia, Montserrat, Dutch Netherlands Antilles, New Zealand, Palestine, Puerto Rico, Samoa, Singapore, Serbia, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turks and Caicos Islands, Ukraine, USA, Vietnam, West Samoa
