Department Overview
Counterparty Data IT are responsible for the development and maintenance of Systems for managing Counterparty information within the company.
The department has teams in London, Prague, New York, Pune and Singapore. Technologies used are Microsoft .NET (ASP and C#) and SQL Server 2008, with some C++/COM+, ASP, and Perl. Legacy systems are built using Java and use UDB.
For 2013, Client and Counterparty IT have an aggressive schedule of changes to support process efficiencies in the Bank, regulatory requirements and operating cost reductions. Whilst the department will deliver the bulk of these changes through bank wide programmes, smaller projects and minor works are also ongoing. Project teams span multiple locations and work with other departments across the organisation.
Main Function
This role requires a technical expert with extensive experience in IT. The successful candidate will provide expertise in relational databases (specifically SQL Server), Object Oriented analysis and design, technical documentation, development in C#, and ASP.NET, troubleshooting and will also line manage a team of developers and mentor more junior team members.
Main Duties
Database/RDBMS Expertise, SQL Server, ASP.NET /C# design, development and support software systems, applications and components.
Contribute to all aspects of the Counterparty IT team where appropriate. When working within the project lifecycle, contribute as follows:
Provide expert input to the database aspects of Counterparty IT systems, including performance optimisation, data modelling and contributing towards the strategy in this area.
Provide accurate estimates at project and task level
Identify, plan and implement improvements to existing procedures to enhance efficiency, both tactical and strategic
Work with business analysts, project managers and testers, understanding detailed business requirements at all stages of the development lifecycle
Work closely with team members in London, US, Pune and Singapore – participating in and contributing to technical discussions
Identify and escalate issues and risks in a timely manner to the development/project manager so that project risk can be mitigated with minimal impact
Line manage a team of developers, providing mentoring and career guidance.
Person Requirements
Essential experience:
At least bachelor degree or Equivalent experience
Data modelling and database design
Database performance optimisation
Involvement in major systems implementations in a SQL Server database and Windows Web based (IIS) application environment.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server/T-SQL
Good knowledge and experience of Object Oriented Programming
Experience in developing
- .Net (ideally 3.5)
- C#
Perforce, Clearcase or other source control tools
Line management experience
Full knowledge of the software project life cycle
Ability to analyse functional requirements and translate into technical design and accurate estimates
Analytical skills – ability to investigate and resolve issues in a high-pressured environment
Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills
Ability to multitask
Preferred experience:
Microsoft IIS
ASP.NET
Java
Knowledge of Build/Continuous Integration technology, particularly Cruise Control, Wix and nUnit
Knowledge of UML, Visio
Perl or other scripting
Working knowledge of additional languages, tools (Autosys, Unit & Quality Centre)
Unix shell commands
SOAP Web Services
