UNIX/LINUX Principal Infrastructure Engineer
Responsibilities:
Work with different teams to onboard new services and related product and technology. This includes preparing technology roadmap and managing ITS Infrastructure product lifecycle
Execute Proof of Concept of products
Provide Technical Consultancy to other groups in ITS on existing and new technical service builds. This includes, providing cross-platform implementation support for large or new complex projects and ensure build standards for infrastructure platforms align and being managed across ITS DCs
Complex Infrastructure Projects Implementation
Infrastructure Problem Management - provide 3rd level problem management support for complex cross-platform problems
Form and leads global virtual teams creating functional touch points with both architecture and operation teams enabling the on-boarding of new product/technologies, providing critical knowledge and consultancy related to technical requirements and tools necessary to implement and improve infrastructure supporting the global strategy.
Work with vendors for support and maintain support scorecard
Requirements:
Comprehensive and expert knowledge of Linux and HP-UX operating systems
Experience with AIX and other OS is desired
Strong knowledge of Hardware relevant knowledge of technology for computing, data storage, printing e.g. High end server hardware (classical standalone servers, blade technologies), Storage (SAN, NAS, backup), virtualization platforms and technologies, interoperation of all these technologies as applicable to subject matter expertise.
Good knowledge of following areas: Operating Systems, System Management, Hardware. Remote Presentation, Deployment and Automation tools
Demonstrated capability in leveraging new technology and continuous improvement of work processes to increase performance/productivity while reducing costs
Experienced in Datacenter operations specifically around monitoring, patching and backups is required
Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written, min. B2)
Strong analytical, problem solving skills
Ability to work in a multi-functional and multi-cultural environment where consensus is paramount
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to senior leaders
Strong collaboration and partnering skills: Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships with partners
Experience of indirect management – managing by influence as opposed to positional authority.
University degree with in-depth knowledge of the specialist technical area, the most recent state of research in the area and at least 7 years of relevant professional experience
Long-standing experience in cross-divisional and international IT projects and service portfolio management
Very good knowledge of the IT infrastructure service portfolios within your area of responsibility
Experience in a large, multi-vendor, computing environment preferable
