Job Summary

 

Novartis is currently searching for an International Trade Analyst to join the Customs Classification team.

 

Job Purpose

 

The purpose of the International Trade Analyst role is to provide general sup-port to Novartis businesses in relation to customs and international trade related matters including but not limited to customs classification of commercial and non-commercial goods, denied party screening as part of embargo and sanction due diligence process, country of origin review and determination, KPI measures and reporting on behalf of Global Customs and Trade Compliance team.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Accountable for the correctness of customs classification for material in scope globally
  • Act as an advisor when required to Novartis business if customs classification needs further explanation or training
  • Good understanding of embargoes and sanction currently in place including potential match assessment, release or escalation
  • Manage export controls including classification, management and monitoring of license application for controlled goods and/or embargo and sanction territories
  • Prepare and present reports on customs and trade compliance matters
  • Collaborate within the team and Novartis businesses to achieve objectives in customs and trade matters
  • Effectively communicate with a variety of teams and colleagues at different level of seniority
  • Advise and escalate to manager and the Global CTC function immediately of any compliance related issues

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

 

Minimum requirements

 

  • Bachelor level degree or commercial certification, preferred: Broker License Certification
  • Fluent in English - written and spoken
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in customs and international trade function
  • Knowledge gained in pharma, chemical or other similar industry would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of import and export principles is required at good working level, including: customs valuation, export control classification, country of origin determination process, embargoes and sanctions, denied party screening process
  • Customs classification knowledge at expert level is required.
  • Experience with SAP is desired, previous GTS usage is an ad-vantage
