R&D Engineer – Insulation Technology

Key Accountabilities:
- Implement state of the art polymer processing methods and manufacturing technologies for production of insulated electrical components
- Support development of production lines with the knowhow on polymers and their application for electrical insulation purposes
- Consult the production personnel in material and process related issues
- Develop and implement quality control measures
- Plan, supervise and coordinate the construction of new R&D test laboratories and run corresponding experiments
- Take over the responsibility for infrastructure, safety and documentation
- Collaborate with the mechanical engineers team to develop new products
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers from ABB Corporate Research and other ABB R&D units on the topic of electrical insulation technologies
- Contribute to a motivating and innovative working climate
Qualifications
- Master degree in material science or engineering
- Very good experimental and practical experience in the field of processing of polymers, e.g. coating, molding, casting and manufacturing of fiber reinforced insulating materials
- Profound knowledge and experience in polymeric materials, especially thermosets and molded compounds as well as theoretical understanding including structure-property relationships
- Several years of experience in industrial R&D beneficial •
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Interest in new fields of technology, as well as industrial implementation
- Motivation, hands-on and pro-active manner
- Result-oriented and communicative team player within an interdisciplinary group
